Barone starred in The Shoes, an episode of Seinfeld's fourth season as Gail Cunningham, a chef who was looking to buy Elaine Benes' shoes. Early in the 1990s Barone appeared as a regular in the show Carol & Company alongside Carol Burnett. Barone was also Carol Willick Ross Geller's ex-wife in her first Friends performance. The show ended her time as she was looking for the role full-time. was replaced by Jane Sibbett. Barone's husband actor Matthew Glave guest starred in two episodes of Shake It Up as J.J. Jones who was the husband of Barone's character.
